Applauds bridge building in Cleveland's Jewish and Arab communities

We all need to join efforts in not only making this world, but our community, a better place.

To make a collective difference in our community, we must peacefully communicate with one another.

Special Sections and SOURCE editor Jennifer L. Slate, in her article, "Accessing Al-Sahafa, N.E. Ohio's Arab Newspaper" is already setting an example.

I was extremely impressed with and inspired by her effort to talk with Fatina Salaheddine, the CEO of Ohio's largest Arab newspaper. Slate and Salaheddine have illustrated that their conversation was an enormous step in a joint effort to building a bridge in our community. They embraced their similarities with warmth and sincerity. More importantly, they embraced their cultural differences with dignity and respect.

It is amazing that when we look beyond names, ethnic backgrounds and religions, how much we all truly have in common. We all want to make a positive difference in this world and in our community. And we all can. Let's capitalize on Jenny's and Fatina's efforts and continue to build bridges in our community. I promise to follow their lead.
